ELEANOR'S CHOCOLATE CHIP BLONDE
BROWNIES
 
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs (beaten)
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chocolate chips

Sift flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Set aside. Melt shortening in a saucepan. Remove from heat and add brown sugar. Add 1 tablespoon water, if necessary, let cool.

Stir in eggs, vanilla. Add flour mixture, a small amount at a time. Mix well. Bake in greased 9 x 13 inch pan (metal pan works better than glass) in a 350 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over batter, before baking. Cool for a few minutes in pan and cut in pieces.
