ENGLISH ALMOND TOFFEE 
1 lb. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. water
2 c. sliced almonds
3/4 tsp. baking soda
12 oz. milk chocolate chips

Combine butter, sugar and water, stirring until mixed. Cook to 236 degrees without stirring. Add almonds and stir constantly while cooking till 295 degrees. Stir in soda and spread on buttered cookie sheet to 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle with chocolate chips on top while still warm. Spread evenly when melted.
