TEXAS FIG CAKE 
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. Wesson oil
4 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 c. flour (sifted)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. fig preserves, drained and chopped
1 c. chopped pecans

Mix milk, cooking oil and eggs. Sift flour, cinnamon, allspice, salt and soda and add to first mixture. Add vanilla, figs and nuts. Bake in tube pan for 1 1/2 hours at 300 degrees.

ICING:

1/2 c. buttermilk
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter
1/2 c. nuts

Mix all ingredients except nuts. Cook to softball stage. Add nuts, pour over cake while hot.
