1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels 2/3 c. evaporated milk, divided 1 (18 1/2 oz.) box German chocolate cake mix 3/4 c. butter, softened 1 c. coarsely chopped nuts, walnut or pecan 12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate pieces Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk on top of double boiler. Stir until melted. Combine cake mix, remaining milk, and softened butter. Blend until mixture holds together. Press 1/2 cake mixture in greased dish and bake for 6 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle nuts and chocolate pieces on top. Pour melted caramel evenly over top. Crumble remaining cake mix over caramel and bake for 15-20 minutes. |
