4 tsp. baking soda 2 c. raisins 2 1/2 c. boiling water 1 c. brown sugar 1 c. white sugar 1 1/2 c. English walnuts 4 c. flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon Mix baking soda, raisins and boiling water together. Cover, let stand 2 hours to cool. Stir together all other ingredients. Add to raisin mixture. Mix. Pour into three 1 pound greased and floured coffee cans, dividing equally. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes at 325°F. Cool 15 minutes in can. Remove to cooling rack. When cool, return to cans. Top with lids. Will keep weeks. |
