EASY BLACK FOREST CAKE
1 pkg. fudge cake mix
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cherry flavored gelatin
3/4 c. boiling water
1/2 c. cold water
1 pkg. instant chocolate pudding mix
2 env. whipped topping mix
1 1/4 c. cold milk
1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling

Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Bake in two (9 inch) round cake pans. Let cool 5 minutes. Remove from pans and place on separate plates, flat sides up. Meanwhile, dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Add cold water. With fork, prick holes in tops of cake layers and very slowly pour gelatin over warm cake. Cover and chill for 2 hours.

In small mixer bowl, combine pudding mix, topping mix and milk. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until stiff, about 2 minutes. Using about 1 cup pudding mixture, make a ring 1/2 inch high and 1 inch wide around bottom cake layer. Fill center of pudding ring with cherry pie filling. Save some of the filling for top of cake.

Using a spatula, carefully life second cake layer and place, flat side down, atop cherry filling. Make another pudding ring on top layer and fill center with remaining pie filling. Frost sides with remaining pudding mixture. Chill at least 1 hour before serving. Refrigerate leftovers. (Use high quality cake mix or will fall apart.)
