1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
8 tbsp. cocoa
Dash of salt

Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla and stir in sifted dry ingredients. Put a round teaspoonful of batter in each section of preheated waffle iron and bake 1 minute. Watch carefully. When cool, frost with cocoa, powdered sugar frosting or white frosting.
