CHRISTMAS CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. Wesson oil
3 eggs
2 c. flour (all-purpose)
1 c. prunes (unseeded), cooked
1/2 c. nuts (pecans), chopped
1/2 c. raisins, pre-soaked
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. buttermilk

Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs one at a time. Add alternately sifted dry ingredients with buttermilk. Then add vanilla, nuts, prunes and raisins.

Topping:

1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/4 lb. butter

Boil for 1 minute on top of stove and then spoon over top of cake while still warm. Use a toothpick to puncture cake so that topping will go all through it.

Bake at 300°F for 1 hour.
