1/2 c. butter 1 c. packed brown sugar 1 egg, beaten 3 sq. (3 oz.) unsweetened chocolate, melted 1 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 c. sifted all purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 c. buttermilk 1/2 c. chopped nuts Cream butter and sugar. Blend in egg, chocolate, and vanilla. Sift flour with soda and salt. Add sifted dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, mixing well after each addition. Stir in nuts. Place rounded teaspoons of dough on ungreased baking sheets and bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Place a nut half atop each cookie before baking if you like. Makes 1 1/2 dozen. |
