FIG CAKE 
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. each cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg
1 c. oil
1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. fig preserves

Dredge figs and nuts in a little extra flour. Mix all ingredients except figs and nuts. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Stir in 1 cup chopped pecans and 1 cup fig preserves, cut in fourths. Bake at 350 degrees until done (about 40 minutes). Test with toothpick. If cleans after inserting toothpick in center of cake, cake is done.
