SWEDISH BUTTER COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg yolk (save white)
1 tbsp. cream
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 egg white
Jelly
Red or green maraschino cherries

Cream the butter and add sugar. Add the egg yolk, cream and vanilla; mix well. Add the flour which has been sifted with the baking powder, then the chopped nuts.

Form dough into small balls, and dip in egg white, then chopped pecans. Make a small indentation in the center of the balls of dough after placing them on an ungreased cookie sheet. Fill the indentation with jelly or with a red or green maraschino cherry half.

Bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees F.) for 20 minutes. Handle carefully when removing from the cookie sheet, for these cookies are quite fragile.
