TURTLE CAKE | |
1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels 3/4 c. butter 1/2 c. evaporated milk 1 c. chocolate chips 1 c. chopped nuts 1 can flaked coconut, optional Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour half of batter (2 cups) into greased 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. While cake bakes melt caramels over low heat, add butter and milk. Spread over cake. Sprinkle chocolate chips, nuts and coconut over caramel topping. Pour rest of cake batter over cake and bake an additional 30 minutes at 350 degrees. ICING: 1 stick butter 1/2 c. milk 3 1/2 tbsp. cocoa Dash of salt 1 box confectioners' sugar 1 c. nuts Bring first 4 ingredients to a boil over medium heat. Add sugar and nuts. Pour over hot cake. |
