STOVE TOP APPLES 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 tsp. lemon juice
Few drops red or green food color, if desired
8 apples, peeled and cored

Boil sugar and water in large enough skillet to hold the 8 apples. Add lemon juice and cake coloring and cook on low heat until fork tender. Turn apples at least one time. These may be stuffed with candied cherries or chopped pecans. A combination of candied pineapple and chopped pecans or raisins and chopped pecans. Serves 8.
