QUICHE FOR A BUNCH | |
1-2 lbs. sausage 10 eggs 2 c. grated longhorn cheese 12 slices bread 3 c. milk Salt & pepper to taste Stir, fry and brown sausage, breaking into small bits as it cooks. Drain in colander. Cube the bread. Mix all ingredients and add to sausage. Pour in well greased 9"x13" pan and refrigerate at least 12 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Alternate Method: Prepare sausage as above. Use 9"x13" greased pan. Cut crusts from all slices of bread. Cover bottom of pan with 6 slices of breads. Cover with 1/2 of sausage. Then sprinkle 1/2 the grated cheese over this. Repeat with another layer of bread, sausage and cheese. Beat eggs, add milk and pour mixture over all. Refrigerate and bake as above. Break up pieces of crust, cut from bread slices. Brown in 1 cube of butter in skillet. Sprinkle over top of all for the last 15 minutes of baking. Serves 10 to 12 generously.
