1 c. butter, softened 1/2 c. sugar 2 1/4 c. flour 1 tsp. vanilla 1 egg 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. chopped pistachios or almonds 6 drops green food color 1 sq. (1 oz.) unsweetened chocolate, melted & cooled 2 tbsp. maraschino cherries, chopped & drained Mix butter, sugar, vanilla, egg. Stir in flour and salt. Divide dough in 3 equal parts. Mix nuts and color in 1/3, chocolate in 1/3, cherries in 1/3. Line bottom and ends of 9 x 5 x 3 inch pan with foil. Press nut dough in bottom. Add chocolate layer and cherry layer. Cover with foil and refrigerate 2 hours. Remove all foil. Slice crosswise into 1/4 inch pieces. Cut in half. Bake about 10 minutes on ungreased sheets at 375 degrees. |
