DATE FILLED CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1 egg
1 c. milk

Cook until thick. Add 1 cup nuts, 1/2 pound pitted dates and 1 teaspoon vanilla.

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. sour milk
1/2 c. boiling water over 1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. flour
2 sq. melted chocolate

Mix together.

Put 1/2 batter in 9 x 13 pan, then filling, then rest of batter.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or more.

FROSTING:

1 egg
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/3 c. butter
1 1/2 sq. chocolate or vanilla
