SOFT RAISIN CAKE 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 c. flour
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. raisins
1 c. raisin juice

Simmer raisins in enough water to have 1 cup juice left. Cool. Cream sugar and butter. Add egg. Mix dry ingredients and add alternately with raisin juice. Bake in 2 layers or a loaf pan in a 350 degree oven. May be cut in squares and served as pudding.
