GREEK WALNUT CAKE 
1/2 c. unsifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
3 lg. eggs, separated
1/2 c. sugar
2 c. walnuts, finely chopped

Line bottom of 8 inch square pan with wax paper; grease paper. Stir together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. In medium mixing bowl, beat egg whites until they hold soft peaks. Gradually beat in sugar until whites hold shiny peaks. Make a well in center of egg whites mixture and add yolks; gently beat until blended.

Fold in flour mixture and walnuts. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook until cake tester comes out clean, cool 30 minutes. Loosen edges. Put on wire rack. Remove paper; turn right side up. Put on honey syrup.

HONEY SYRUP

In small saucepan over low heat, stir 1/2 cup sugar and 1 cup water until sugar is dissolved; increase heat and bring to boil gently 10 minutes. Stir in 1/2 cup honey. Cool before pouring on cake.
