CUCUMBER CHIPS 
4 qt. sliced cucumbers
6 med. white/yellow onions, sliced
1/3 c. salt
3 c. sugar
3 c. apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 tbsp. celery seed
1 1/2 tsp. mustard seed
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1/4 tsp. alum

Wash cucumbers 4 times with shrub brush and cut off ends. Slice into large container. Add onions and salt; mix in crushed ice. Let stand 5 hours. Drain.

Mix remaining ingredients in cooking container. Add cucumbers and onions and heat just to a boil. Add alum and ladle into hot jars.
