RED CROSS FUDGE
Daddy always made this at Christmas. It was such a very special treat!

4 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk
2 cups miniature marshmallows
1 large pkg. chocolate chips
2 cups chopped nuts

Mix together sugar, butter and evaporated milk; bring to a rolling boil and cook at medium heat for 11 minutes, stirring constantly. Add marshmallows, chocolate chips, and nuts. Mix well and pour into buttered pan. Cool and cut.

Makes 5 pounds.

My Grandma also kept the newspaper clipping of this recipe in which I now have! Definitely the best fudge recipe ever, tried and true, through several generations! Everyone always looks forward to our fudge!

My mom cut this recipe from the San Diego Tribune in early 1950's. The original recipe had 1 teaspoon vanilla added before chocolate and marshmallows. Also only cooked for 8 minutes. I have the original recipe put away in my album. When I was 9 I won a baking contest with that fudge at Ocean Knoll Elementary in Encinitas California.

My mom cut it out of the San Diego Tribute in the fifties too! We made it every Christmas! We lived in San Diego and the rest of the family lived in Encintas.

My mom cut out this recipe in the 1950's. I have the original clipping. We have been making this every year since them. The best, no fail fudge ever for the last 60 years.
