1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. cider vinegar
1/3 c. salad oil
1 c. cold water
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt in a mixing bowl. Add vinegar and oil and cold water. Stir until smooth. Use a spoon, not an electric mixer. Add vanilla and mix in well. Pour batter into an ungreased 8-inch square baking pan. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Cool, cut into squares or frost in pan.
