CINNAMON YAMS 
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. red cinnamon candies
3/4 c. water
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shredded coconut

Combine sugar, candies and water. Boil 2 to 3 minutes or until candies are completely dissolved, stirring frequently. Spread butter over bottom of baking dish. Place yams or sweet potatoes in dish. Sprinkle with salt and cinnamon. Cover with syrup. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, basting often with syrup in baking dish. Sprinkle with coconut the last 10 minutes of baking.
