APPLE CRISP 
1 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
4 c. peeled, sliced tart apples

8x8 inch pan. 350 degree oven.

Place oatmeal, flour, sugar, salt and cinnamon in bowl and blend. Add soft butter and blend well with pastry blender or fork.

Arrange apples in buttered baking dish. Spread oatmeal mixture on top of apples and press down slightly. Bake about 30 minutes or until topping is brown and apples are tender when tested with a fork. (Double for a 9x13 inch cake pan.)

Can use 4 cups peeled, sliced fresh peaches or cut rhubarb.
