SWEDISH MEATBALLS | |
1 1/2 c. soft bread crumbs 3/4 c. milk 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 3 tbsp. onion, chopped fine 4 tbsp. butter 1 lb. ground beef 1 egg, slightly beaten 10 1/2 oz. can consomme 1 1/2 tsp. flour 1 1/2 tsp. water Soften bread crumbs in milk. Cook onions in half the butter for 5 minutes; add to bread crumbs. Add beef, nutmeg, salt, pepper, egg. Form into balls. Saute in rest of butter for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Add consomme and simmer gently for 5 minutes. Remove meat to serving dish. Blend flour and water together and add to consomme. Stir until thick and pour over meatballs. |
