VERY BEST BRAN MUFFINS 
1 c. boiling water
2 c. Bran Buds
1 c. All Bran
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 c. buttermilk
2 1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 pkgs. chopped dates
2 c. walnuts
2 1/2 c. flour

Dissolve baking soda with buttermilk (it will rise). In a large bowl, combine brans and boiling water. In another bowl, cream butter, sugar and eggs, one at a time. Next mix in bran mixture, by hand, then the buttermilk/soda mixture. Mix in flour, then dates and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Great for gift giving. Keeps 6 weeks in refrigerator. Makes 36 muffins.
