STRAWBERRY-NUT BREAD | |
(I have been making this bread for years). 2 c. butter 3 c. sugar 2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. lemon extract - I use almond 8 eggs 6 c. all-purpose flour 2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. cream of tartar 1 tsp. baking soda 2 c. strawberry preserves 1 c. sour cream 2 c. chopped nuts Cream butter, sugar, vanilla, lemon or almond, thoroughly. Add eggs one at a time and beat after each addition. Sift dry ingredients together. Combine preserves, and sour cream, add to creamed mixture alternating with flour mixture. Stir in nuts, place in greased and floured loaf pan or aluminum juice cans. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes or until done. Cool completely on wire racks. Wrap in foil or gift paper. Bread may be placed in freezer and frozen for months. (Note: It does not hurt if you wish to leave out salt). |
