2 c. brown sugar
1 c. lard or oil
2 eggs, beaten
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. candied fruit
1/2 tsp. salt
4 c. bread flour
2 c. raisins, chopped
2 c. dates, chopped
2 c. gum drops, chopped
2 c. mixed nuts

Cook together raisins and dates and 2 cups water for 10 minutes. Combine sugar, lard, eggs; add spices and flour. Mix well. Add candied fruit; stir in raisins and date mixture while still warm.
