CHOCOLATE-COVERED CHERRY COOKIES
1 c. butter, softened
2/3 c. sugar
2 egg yolks
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 (10 oz.) jars maraschino cherries
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate morsels
1/2 c. condensed milk

Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed of an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.

Combine flour and salt; add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Chill dough at least 1 hour.

Shape dough into 1" balls; place on ungreased cookie sheets. Press thumb into each ball of dough, leaving an indentation. Drain cherries, reserving 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon juice. Press 1 cherry into indentation of each cookie.

Combine reserved cherry juice, chocolate morsels, and milk in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until chocolate melts. Spread about 1 teaspoon frosting over each cherry.

Bake at 325 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Let cool completely on cookie sheets.
