TOFFEE SQUARES 
1 c. butter, soften to room temp.
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg yolk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 7/8 c. plain flour
6 milk chocolate bars (1.65 oz. each)
1 c. chopped or toasted almonds or pecans

In mixing bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light colored and fluffy. Add egg yolks and vanilla, gradually beat in flour until smooth and well blended (dough will be thick.)

Spread evenly on ungreased 16x14x1 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or crust is golden brown and puffy. Remove from oven. Arrange unwrapped chocolate bars evenly over crust, sprinkle with chopped nuts. Cool, cut into squares. Yields 40 squares.
