GOLDEN POUND CAKE | |
1 c. softened butter (2 sticks) 1/2 c. shortening 3 c. sugar 5 eggs 3 c. all purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 tsp. lemon extract Cream butter and shortening until fluffy; gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Sift flour with baking powder and add alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour. Stir in vanilla and lemon extracts. Pour batter into greased and floured 10" tube pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan at least 10 minutes before removing. |
