AUNT RIVERS' BREAD PUDDIN' | |
2 loaves stale bread 1 can condensed milk 1 can evaporated milk Sugar to taste Dash of vanilla 5 eggs Raisins to taste 1 stick butter, softened Cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice to taste Walnuts (optional) Combine evaporated and condensed milks, crumble bread and soak in milk mixture until softened. Add eggs, sugar, butter, spices, vanilla and raisins. Mash everything together and mix with your hands. (It's just not the same if you do it with a spoon.) Bake in an ungreased pan at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours until it rises and turns golden brown on top. Don't be impatient now. Let it cool completely before you taste it. |
