SOPAPILLAS 
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. shortening
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 1/4 c. scalded milk

Combine dry ingredients and cut in shortening. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add to milk which has been cooled down to room temperature. Add liquids to dry ingredients and work into dough. Knead 15 to 20 times and set aside 10 minutes. Roll dough thin, cut into squares and fry at 420 degrees. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
