SPICY PUMPKIN CAKES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/4 c. milk
1 c. cooked pumpkin
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. bran
1 3/4 c. flour, sifted
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves

Beat shortening until creamy. Add sugar gradually and blend well. Add eggs and thoroughly beat. Combine milk, pumpkin and bran. Stir into first mixture alternating with dry ingredients, beating after each addition. Spoon batter into greased cupcake pans filling about 2/3 full. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Makes 24 cupcakes.
