FRENCH CREAM BARS 
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. lard or butter
1 c. hot water with 1 tsp. baking soda dissolved
1 tsp. baking powder
3 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. raisins
1 c. nuts

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl beating really well when adding the flour. Pour into a 9 x 13 inch pan and bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. These bars will freeze very well.
