BROWN SUGAR COFFEE CAKE 
2 c. brown sugar, lightly packed
2 c. flour
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. sour cream
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Thoroughly mix together brown sugar, flour and butter. Spread half of mixture into (9 inch) square pan. To remaining brown sugar mixture, add egg and nutmeg. Mix soda into sour cream and add, stirring well. Spread batter over first mixture in pan. Sprinkle cinnamon and nuts over batter.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Serve as coffee cake, or top with whipped cream and serve as a dessert. Serves 6 to 8.
