SCOTTISH SHORTBREAD | |
1 lb. butter (do NOT substitute butter) 1 c. sugar 5 c. flour Cream together butter and sugar. Add flour slowly. Roll out dough 1/4" to 1/2" thick. Cut into squares. Prick with fork. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes until golden. These cookies will keep for long periods of time if left in a tightly sealed container. Lots of variations: 1. Add a little lemon juice for lemon butter flavor. 2. Sprinkle with nuts before baking. 3. Frost with chocolate after baking. |
