3 c. sugar 1 c. white Karo syrup 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. water 1/4 tsp. salt 2 eggs 1 c. nuts, chopped Combine syrup, water, salt and sugar in a 3-quart saucepan. Boil to hard-ball stage. Beat egg whites in large bowl and gradually beat in the boiling syrup. Beat until it begins to stiffen and add vanilla. Add nuts and beat again. Pour into a pan slightly oiled with butter; cut into squares when cool. If preferred, drop by spoonfuls on wax paper. |
