CHOCOLATE CREAM PIE 
3 eggs, separated
1 scant c. sugar
1 heaping tbsp. flour
4 rounded tsp. cocoa
1 1/2 c. milk
Pinch of salt
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine dry ingredients and mix well. Add milk gradually, stirring until well mixed. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens.

Remove from heat and add small amount of mixture to egg yolks. Add to remainder of mixture and continue cooking over medium heat until very thick and bubbly, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Pour into precooked pie shell and top with meringue. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes.

MERINGUE:

3 egg whites
6 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
