SWISS ONION STEAK 
1 lb. round steak
1 tbsp. shortening
2 tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 env. onion soup mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 (8 oz.) can mushrooms, drained

Combine flour, salt and pepper. Sprinkle 1 side of beef with half the flour mixture; pound in, turn beef and pound in remaining mixture. Cut into 4 or 5 serving pieces.

Heat shortening in 10" skillet until melted. Cook beef over medium heat until brown, about 15 minutes. Combine onion soup mix, mushroom soup and mushrooms, pour over meat in skillet. Cover and simmer until meat is tender, about 45 minutes.
