CRISP OATMEAL FRUIT STRIPS 
1 c. butter, room temperature
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. raisins (or finely diced pitted prunes or dates)
1 1/4 c. rolled oats.

Beat together butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg. Stir in flour with baking soda. Then stir into creamed mixture with raisins and oats. Mix well. Divide dough into 15 equal portions. Place 3 or 4 portions each onto ungreased 12 x 15 inch baking pans. Punch dough to shape 8 inch ropes and place at least 2 inches apart. Flatten each rope into 2 inch wide trips. Bake in a 350 degree oven until brown, about 10 minutes. Let cool on pan, about 2 minutes then cut each strip diagonally into 1 inch bars. Let cookies cool in pan, then transfer from pans with a wide spatula.
