2 pt. strawberries
Sugar
Rum
Seasonal fruits (cherries, peaches, plums, raspberries, pineapple & pears)

Hull strawberries. Put in large glass with 3 cups sugar and 2 cups rum. Stir until sugar dissolves. Cover tightly and let stand in a cool place. As other fruits come into season, add them along with 2 cups sugar and 1 cup rum per pound of prepared fruit. Serve as a sauce with ice cream or plain cake. Can be used after 1 week or let mellow for months and be used for the holidays. Use untreated fruits if possible. Sprayed fruits sometimes mold even when preserved.
