FRUITCAKE 
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. candied cherries, halved
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. candied pineapple, cut up
1 (10 oz.) pkg. dates, pitted and halved
2 c. pecans, cut in halves
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
Pinch of salt
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix fruit and pecans together. Sift soda, flour, sugar and salt together 3 times; mix with fruits and pecans. Coat fruit and pecans completely. Beat eggs and vanilla in small bowl with fork until well mixed; pour over dry mixture and coat completely. Line 10-inch tube pan with greased brown paper; pour mixture in tube pan. Press firmly; place in cold oven.

Heat oven to 275 degrees. Bake for 2 hours. Let cool for 6 hours or until entire pan is cold; peel off brown paper. For best results bake 4 to 6 weeks before serving.
