WALNUT SUNDAE TORTE 
1/2 c. butter
1 - 2 c. walnuts, chopped
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

In medium saucepan melt butter over medium heat. Add walnuts and brown sugar; blend until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat. Mix in milk, vanilla and egg. Blend in flour, baking soda and salt until smooth. Pour into greased and floured 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 - 30 minutes or until top springs back. Serve with sauce.

CARAMEL SAUCE:

1 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. light cream
1/4 c. light corn syrup
1/4 c. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla

In medium saucepan combine all but vanilla. Bring to rolling boil; boil 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
