MISS ELLEN'S POUND CAKE 
1 c. softened butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
6 lg. eggs
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Grease and flour loaf pan. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. With electric mixer cream butter and sugar until fluffy and light. Add eggs and beat well. With wooden spoon stir in flour and vanilla. Mix well. Pour into loaf pan. Smooth top with spatula. Bake 1 1/4-1 1/2 hours. Test with toothpick. Let cool 10 minutes. Cut with bread knife.

I make this cake all the time. My family love it. It is very moist and has a nice buttery taste. Bakes up beautifully.
