BANANA - OATMEAL COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. mashed ripe banana
1 3/4 c. rolled oats
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Cream together shortening and sugar. Add egg and mix well. Sift together flour, soda, salt, and spices; add to shortening mixture alternately with mashed banana (adding flour first and last). Mix in rolled oats and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes at 400 degrees. Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
