TEXAS SHEET CAKE | |
2 c. sugar 2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 c. water 1 stick butter 1/2 c. vegetable oil 4 tbsp. cocoa 2 slightly beaten eggs 1/2 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. vanilla Sift together and set aside the sugar, flour, soda, cinnamon. Bring to boil water, butter, oil and cocoa. Pour chocolate mixture over dry ingredients and mix with wooden spoon. Set aside. Mix eggs, buttermilk and vanilla. Add this to chocolate batter and mix with wooden spoon. Pour into greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until done. Start making frosting 5 minutes before cake is done. Frost in pan while cake is hot. FROSTING: 1 stick butter 4 tbsp. cocoa 6 tbsp. milk 1 box confectioner's sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. chopped nuts Bring first 3 ingredients to boil in saucepan. Add last 3 and spread on cake. |
