1/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp. hot water
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
2 1/2 c. apples, peeled, cored and diced

Cream together butter and sugar until well blended. Add egg and water, blend. Add dry ingredients and spices, blend well. Stir in nuts, apples and vanilla. Spread in 9-inch well-greased glass pie plate. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Cool a few minutes, serve warm with ice cream. (Can double recipe and bake in 9x13 inch pan.)
