MAMA'S PLUM PUDDING 
1 c. molasses
1 c. milk
1 c. chopped suet
1 c. seeded raisins
1/2 c. currants
1/2 c. chopped citron
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Mix together molasses, milk, suet, raisins, currants, citron and egg. Sift dry ingredients together and add to mixture. Place in greased coffee cans (2) and steam for 3 hours. Serve with hot lemon sauce. A Christmas tradition!

LEMON SAUCE FOR PLUM PUDDING:

2 c. granulated sugar
6 tbsp. flour
1 qt. boiling water
Dash of nutmeg
Piece of butter, walnut sized
1 tsp. lemon extract
Pinch of salt

Wet sugar and flour with cold water to make a paste. Add boiling water and cook until thick. Add nutmeg, butter, lemon extract and salt. Serve on warm slices of pudding.
