SHERRY TRIFLE
1 packet jelly rolls (4 rolls)
1 packet strawberry Jello
1 can mixed fruit cocktail, 15 oz.
Sherry (preferably a good sherry like "Harvey's Bristol Cream" - but cooking sherry will suffice)
1 packet custard, Americanna Jello brand
Some powdered nutmeg

Take jelly rolls from pack (4 per pack) and slice each in half, place in bottom of dessert dish to completely cover bottom. Soak liberally with sherry - they will soak it up. Pour out the syrup from the can of fruit cocktail and save. Pour fruit cocktail evenly over the soaked jelly rolls. Make up the Jello with one cup of boiling water. When dissolved, add in syrup from fruit cocktail. This should be less Jello than normal since it will also absorb the sherry. Pour Jello over the soaked rolls and fruit and let set in refrigerator.

When set, make up custard according to instructions on packet. Let cool somewhat before pouring entire amount of custard over the set Jello. Sprinkle liberally with powdered nutmeg and let set again in refrigerator. Other colorful "sprinklers" could be substituted for nutmeg.

This should make servings for at least 8 persons. This may also be made in individual dessert glasses and let set separately if so desired.

It's delicious!
