COCONUT CRUNCH APPLE PIE 
CRUST:

1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
5 to 6 tbsp. cold water
1/4 c. shredded coconut

Mix together flour and salt. Cut in shortening until size of small peas. Mix in water by tablespoon until soft dough is formed. Roll out dough. Sprinkle with coconut, roll in. Place crust into 9-inch pie plate. Flute edges or press with fork.

FILLING:

4 c. peeled and sliced apples
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. flour

Mix filling ingredients together and turn into crust.

TOPPING:

1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. coconut
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Mix flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Mix in butter, then coconut and walnuts. Sprinkle evenly over pie. Bake at 400 degrees for 40-45 minutes. For one 9-inch pie.
